PEC REGO

JUL (8)

We have the honour to reply to your letter of the 11th.

inst. and beg to point out that the interest of Messrs. Wm,

Meyerink & Co. in the Trade Marks in question in Hongkong, was

of no value to them except when working with us, as the marks

are our property in this country, we fear, however, that the

marks have now almost lost their value in Hongkong through want of use, and as we are not interested in any of the piece goods

Messrs. Wm. Meyerink & Oo. used to buy, except those on which these marka were used, we do not think the purchase of the goodwill of their whole business for the sake of these marks

would be a sound proposition.

Is it not still possible to cancel the renewal of registration of these marks in the joint names of Messrs. Wm. Meyerink & Co. and ourselves, in Hongkong, for which we applied to the Registrar of Trade Marke in Hongkong, in our letter of

August 9th., 19161

sels

A

The marks in question are our property everywhere except in Hongkong, and are in use in nearly all the other markets of the East, and were only intended to remain in the bands of Messrs. Wm. Meyerink & Co. in Hongkong, so long as we did business with them; it was always perfectly understood that the marks were our property, but were to be used only for them in the Hongkong market, and were registered in our joint names there merely as a protection against the use of the

marks by others.
